Review: 2019 Terrazas De Los Andes Grand Malbec

I'm not sure what to call the phenomenon when something is ever-present but never noticeable, but sometimes that's what happens to us when reviewing. It's been a year since we reviewed anything from Terrazas? That seems very improbable, but it's true. Fixing that today, with a higher-end offering.

Nose: Blackberry and wet rock, with whiffs of basil and oregano which expand with additional passes. Some balsamic too with time. The earthier elements calm down a bit with time.

Palate: Comes in with minerality taking the charge and blackberry following. Very approachable and full-bodied with easy acidity and tannins. More of the fruit and less of the mineral influence with each sip.

Finish: Long and elegant. Never too off-putting and a touch of smoke crests before letting the fruit take things down to a very satisfying rest.

It's our mistake that we don't review more of their offerings, something that will be corrected in the future. It's a hefty price tag, but a very classy bottle. Hold for a very special occasion.
