Review: Pampas Del Sur Tenacious Reserva

Not really sure of any sort of backstory to be found on this, and a Google search came up with the name of a lovely resort and links to Total Wine. I can never be too sure in the store when it comes to these types of bottles, but at $15 it still remains rather a low risk in terms of an investment.

Nose: A bit closed off and predictable at first, with strawberry and bit of chocolate cherry in the mix. A bit of citrus zest as it sits, and a mild earthy note.

Palate: Approachable but temperate. Oak is definitely present, but not overly so. There's a vanilla sweetness that turns spicy with each consecutive sip. A bit of eucalyptus leaf towards the end.

Finish: Lengthy, and a bit of spice. The oak returns to the fold by the end. Well-structured and light on the tannins.

It's a Mendoza profile that I appreciate, but nothing out of the ordinary here. It's without flaw, but that doesn't make for a compelling adventure if that is the main objective. Still serviceable for the price.
