Review: 2020 Argento Estate Bottled Malbec

With this organic Malbec emanating from Lujan de Cuyo there were a few things I was anticipating: this would be very earthy and mildly oaked on the palate, that it would have a decent price-to-quality ratio and I would appreciate it for not being too acidic. This checks all three boxes.

It comes across with more pepper than anticipated on the nose, with fruit locked up by a surprisingly amount of minerality. Notes of deep strawberry and herbs deliver some drama on the palate but the balance between the earthiness and fruit never quite gets there. Thankfully the low-to-medium acidity keeps this from being overwhelming and forgettable. A medium-bodied dinner party offering if there's roasted meat involved.
