Review: 2017 Finca La Anita Malbec

2017 Finca La Anita Malbec

We received an email asking why we are called "Post-Malbec" if all we do is review Malbec wines. There are a few possible answers:

  • We are being cheeky (most likely)
  • The "post" in question does not refer to time, but the activity of posting reviews (too clever for us)
  • We ran out of decent names that weren't puns like Grape Expectations or Heard It Through The Grapevine.
You can pick and choose which answer you like best. And as always, you can reach out to us at the email address on our contact page, and one or all of our writers will get back to you.

Today I had a cellar pick, simply because I am running out of room and need to make some clearance for last week's purchases. And this one is a dandy. Lots of fresh-cut grass and red berry on the nose with a mild oak influence running through notes of black pepper and dark chocolate on the palate. A finish that's mild and minty keeping things short and sweet, almost surprisingly so. A really well-balanced bottle with a body that isn't too brutish and burly, ideal for the hotter months of summer.
