Review: 2018 Antigal Uno Malbec

2018 Antigal Uno Malbec

I'm writing this on my laptop while watching the Golden State Warriors win yet another title against the Celtics, and I can't help but wonder if GSW will be placed on the same pedestal as the 80s Lakers, 90s Bulls, 99-07 Spurs or if they'll just fly under the radar. Time will tell, but I would like to see more love now. Another time and possibly another blog elsewhere (or nowhere), I suppose, to dive deeper into this. But for the celebration bottle, the option was for something lovely and affordable, something quiet but impactful: 2018 Mendoza Malbec from Antigal.

Full disclosure: I love this wine and have proudly championed it to friends for the last few years now. So my love for the brand clearly out of the way, let's talk about what you're getting here: lots of black plum in that Mendoza way, a touch of dark leather and blackberries in that classic Malbec structure. A palate of violet, vanilla, and more of that lovely dark fruit. A lingering and steady finish that is jammy with a mild balsamic undertone as it evaporates.

It's hard-working, humble, and most certainly does the job. Just like Golden State. Draymond Green excepted, of course. $15
