Review: 2017 Luca Nico Malbec

Luca_Nico_2017

This weekend finally welcomed the arrival of spring in our neck of the woods, and I was most grateful to sit on my back patio without the assistance of a fire pit to keep me warm. I also found a cracking clean copy of the Tamba 4 album (selected as our album of the week) for under $30, so everything felt like an all-around win. But this Luca was the icing on the proverbial cake.

Have we mentioned lately how much we love Laura Catena on this site? Review of her book forthcoming later this week. Anyways, let's get on with the notes.

A very big and burly blackberry monster with a touch of fresh mint after a good bit of time resting. The palate is full and juicy with firm tannins and a measured balance of plum, dark berry, and oak.

You can cork this bad boy now, or save it for a special occasion coming down the line where a big bottle is in order. It is quite pricey, clocking in at a full US Benjamin, but very much worth it for celebratory purposes.

$100
