Review: 2020 Mendoza Station Malbec

Mendoza Station

I recently stayed at a hotel on business and this was the sole Malbec offering on the menu. Downtime is always a good thing, and I had a few moments, so I filed this review:

A nice violet color reflects well against the white faux-marble finish of the hotel bar counter at this fine three-and-a-half-star lodging establishment. Through the well-worn wine glass, I picked up aromas of blackberry and plums at first, and a nice dose of vanilla as I sat and listened to the couple next to me argue about the state of Russian-Ukranian affairs. They did not solve our problem.

The structure was solid, with soft tannins and a palate built largely on blackberry and slight oak. I looked up this bottle online to find that it was currently available for $7 at a Total Wine 15 miles down the road. Had I known there was a Total Wine 15 miles away, I would have driven there to purchase something a bit more elevated. This does the job, but just so.
