I can’t say this with 100% certainty but I’m pretty sure
Sam’s Club doesn’t own a vineyard in Mendoza. I might be wrong. But I would be
most curious as to which vineyard this was sourced. My first guess based on the
sheer volume required was Catena, but there is no way Catena could come up with
something this middle of the road. Tobacco and blackberry on the nose, kind of
sharp on the palate at first but rounds out with some time in the glass. Notes
of plum and blackberry, quite high in acidity. A warm finish full of pepper. It’s
serviceable but less than thrilling. A bottle to bring to the in-laws if they
know fuck all about Malbec.
