One of the rituals that the new normal has provided is the ability to work from home with greater flexibility. There’s a serious tug of war to have all workers return to the office, and I can imagine I’m on the last days of this freedom. But for now I enjoy the absence of a commute amongst people who can’t drive worth a damn, the ability not to get my kid frantically from school to practice, and just generally being more productive. Including having the freedom to write up notes from last night’s tasting without having a supervisor monitoring my every moment or asking what I am working on during my lunch hour.
Some details: 100% Malbec from Mendoza from various
vineyards including my two favorite regions: Lujua de Cuyo and Uco Valley. Aged for a year in concrete vats, it requires
a minimum of 45 minutes before drinking. It’s flush with fruit, heavy on blackberry
and chocolate on the nose, and pivots to notes of dark cherry and violet on the
palate. It’s somewhat acidic but not too overpowering. Very respectable and for
the price tag, it’s hard to go wrong picking a pair up and letting one age for
a year or so.
