Review: 2019 Domaine Bousquet Cameleon Malbec

Domaine Bousquet Cameleon Malbec

Picked this up at Total Wine for a song. I don’t think I’ve seen a DBousquet run at this price prior to this, and I’m certainly wasn’t expecting this to match with its higher-end bottlings, but it did. Leather and spiced plum are inviting on the nose, and there’s mild but present tannin well-integrated. Dark fruit runs throughout the palate, and the medium-length oak finish runs deep and dominant. It’s bold and surprisingly lovely, even without pairing. The 2020 offering was a Wine Enthusiast Best Buy for 2021. I certainly understand why.
