Review: 2017 Alamos Malbec Seleccion

2017 Alamos Malbec Seleccion

I am easy prey for a good yarn and beautiful photography, especially when it comes to the vineyards of Argentina. I’ve never had the opportunity to visit but really wish to do so at some point before another pandemic arrives, or climate change destroys everything we hold dear. This is another Bodega Catena Zapata selection and much like some of the higher end bottles, this is a beauty. I guess we can do this SV style again since it seemed to work out before. Nose: dark fruit and a bit of minerality, some oak but not much to make an impact. Palate: Cracking. Black currant, some plum (surprise) and black pepper giving it a bit of heat. Finish: long, fully of blackberry jam. Really concentrated. Comments: Very nice and performs as expected from one of the top Malbec exports. A nice Malbec introduction
