Review: 2017 Trivento Golden Reserve Malbec

Was surprised to still see a bottle of this while out of town for a kid’s soccer tournament. Not that Trivento flies off the shelf in West Virginia, but there is something wholly satisfying finding this year at this price with an unsuspecting shopkeep only too happy to see it out the door. Not that this is anything but serviceable as Malbecs go, either.

This is mass-produced and while it does the job with the usual suspects of blackberry, cassis and violet all making an appearance there’s not enough oak influence here to hold everything together. Fans of simplicity and minimalism can stop here for a glass and will find themselves satisfied. |
